Aside from the park, it also boasts an equestrian centre, a campground, and a bi-directional trail system. If the foundation can successfully execute its plans, Wesley Clover Parks will be a popular destination for visitors from across Ottawa and beyond. Its proposed activities will include a new equestrian centre, a hiking trail, and a re-imagined outdoor riding arena.

Plans for the future

The City of Ottawa will consider plans for the future of Wesley Clover Parks Nepean. A proposal for an equestrian outdoor riding arena could be included in a land-use amendment.

A new forest school and swan house are also in the works. These will be built along with a new public seating area and horseback riding trails. Several yurts will also be added to the forest school.

The new Forest School will focus on early childhood education and connecting people with nature. It will also have a “home” for the royal swans. This will be done in a way that will allow for improved trail networks and a stronger connection to the environment.

The project would take place on a 500-acre property that is owned by the National Capital Commission (NCC). The NCC will lease the property to the Wesley Clover Foundation. In turn, the foundation will invest $20 million in site reconstruction.

The city has been in contact with Wesley Clover and the organization has offered additional reasons for its request. They have also submitted a legal opinion supporting their request. Next blog post.
